Why Choose Gooch Family Dental
for Crowns in Birmingham, AL

Your Crown in a Single Visit
Our dentist in Birmingham, AL, uses CEREC technology to design, mill, and place your permanent crown in one appointment. There are no messy putty impressions, no temporary crowns, and no two-week wait for a lab. You can even pair your crown with a root canal or other treatment and leave the same day with your final restoration in place.

Relaxed, Comfortable Treatment
We understand that dental anxiety is one of the biggest barriers to getting the care you need. Gooch Family Dental is one of the few Birmingham practices that offers both nitrous oxide and oral sedation for crown procedures, so you can feel calm and at ease throughout your visit. We also apply a desensitizing agent with every crown to minimize discomfort during and after placement.

Affordable Options for Every Budget
Our treatment coordination team works directly with your insurance provider to help you maximize your benefits. For patients without insurance, we offer an in-house dental care plan with discounts on restorative services like crowns. We also accept CareCredit® financing with interest-free and low-interest plans available.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Dental Crowns
How long do crowns last?
With proper aftercare, your dental crown can last as long as 15 years. Brush your teeth twice a day, floss daily, and visit our Birmingham office every six months for an exam and cleaning. It is also important to avoid biting down on hard objects that can damage, crack, or dislodge the crown.
What should I do if my crown is damaged?
While durable, a permanent crown can chip or crack just like a natural tooth. When this happens, the underlying tooth structure becomes vulnerable to further damage and decay. You may also notice increased sensitivity if part of the natural tooth is exposed. Our dentists can repair or replace broken restorations so you can bite, chew, and smile with ease. If your crown is chipped or cracked, give us a call right away.
What is the difference between CEREC and traditional crowns?
Traditional crowns require at least two appointments. During the first visit, your dentist takes putty impressions and places a temporary crown. The impressions are sent to an outside lab, and you return two or more weeks later to have the permanent crown placed. CEREC crowns eliminate that entire process. Using 3D digital imaging and in-office milling technology, our Birmingham dentists design and fabricate your all-porcelain crown in a single visit. For back teeth that need extra durability, we may use e.max® porcelain, which is five times stronger than traditional porcelain.
