Meet Our Doctors
Burton Gooch, DDS
Dr. Burton Gooch has been practicing general dentistry for about 13 years. You will not find a dentist who loves what he does more than Dr. Gooch. It shows in his devotion to his practice and his patients. He has a genuine passion for learning more about all aspects of dentistry and therefore participates in continuing education courses at least once a month to ensure every procedure and every piece of equipment is state-of-the-art. His priority is to give his patients top-of-the-line care and service.
Dr. Gooch received his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, and his bachelor of biomedical science degree from Auburn University. To broaden and further his education, he did a general practice residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There he was able to take time to focus his efforts on cosmetic dentistry, implants, and comprehensive dental care.
He strives to provide the latest products and techniques available for today’s lifestyle. For the anxious patient, he provides oral conscious sedation, which is similar to sleeping through your dental appointment.
He is involved in many professional societies including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Birmingham District Dental Society, and the Alabama Dental Association. Dr. Gooch has been to Honduras several times for dental missions trips and has found it extremely rewarding to provide dental care to those who are underserved. Dr. Gooch and his wife, Allison, reside in Birmingham with their three children, Coleson, Maggie, and Claire.
Daniel Andrews, DMD
Dr. Daniel Andrews graduated from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2017. During this 1 year program, he expanded and improved upon his general dentistry skills with a special focus on surgery, including dental implants and sedation dentistry. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Andrews joined Gooch Family Dental in July of 2018.
Dr. Andrews attended Bethel University in McKenzie, TN for his undergraduate studies and also played collegiate golf for the Bethel Royals. He met his wife Jessica there as she also was a collegiate athlete, playing Volleyball for the Bethel Royals. Fun fact- Dr. Andrews has been married twice but never divorced! (He was married in the U.S. and Brazil) because Jessica is from Brazil! He enjoys studying the Portuguese language and one day hopes to achieve fluency. He also enjoys working out, sports, karaoke, and online gaming.
Dr. Andrews looks forward to meeting you and taking great care of you and your dental needs!
Taylor Duncan, DMD
Dr. Taylor Duncan joined Gooch Family Dental in 2019 and has enjoyed every minute of being a part of our team. Dr. Duncan has treated patients since 2015 and he brings a compassionate and gentle spirit to his style of practice. He feels that the positive attitude of the entire staff in our office, the teamwork displayed each day, and our commitment to education and technology positions him to provide the highest quality care for all of his patients. He deeply cares that each patient has as comfortable of an experience as possible and that they feel as if they are being cared for like family. In fact, the care and personal touch in Dr. Duncan's own experience as a dental patient helped drive him to pursue a career in the dental field.
Dr. Duncan has been married for 8 years to his wife, Kelley, and they have two boys: Bennett and Everett. When he's not in the office he loves spending as much time as possible with his family. Together they spend lots of time playing outside and frequenting many of the parks throughout Birmingham. As his boys grow older he plans to teach them more about his other hobbies: fly fishing, golf, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves each baseball season. He and his family are very active members of their church, Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia. He also has a passion for service and missions, and has been on mission trips to Nome, Alaska and Delhi, India.
Dr. Duncan received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Alabama and Doctor of Dental Medicine from UAB School of Dentistry. He is committed to a lifetime of learning and has studied in several extensive continuing education courses covering topics from implant planning and placement, cosmetic dentistry, and oral conscious sedation. These include his current membership with SPEAR education and DOCS education (Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation). He is also involved in the American Dental Association, Birmingham District Dental Society, and Alabama Dental Association.
